Job Title: UAS Test Engineer

Location: Duke Field AFB, Fort Walton Beach, FL

As a UAS Test Engineer, you will be integral to our Flight-Testing Team, guaranteeing that our UAVs adhere to the highest standards of quality, reliability, and endurance.

You will utilize advanced engineering skills, comprehensive technical knowledge, and thorough industry insight while crafting innovative solutions to intricate challenges.

Collaborate closely with our engineering and flight test teams to pinpoint areas for enhancement that ensure our aircraft are evaluated to their fullest capabilities.

Additionally, you will work alongside stakeholders in both software and hardware development to guarantee that the finest products are delivered to our customers.

Duties:

  • Create comprehensive test and evaluation strategies, master plans, procedures, and reports for UAS platforms and their subsystems
  • Design, plan, and execute flight system tests to validate performance and functionality
  • Collect and analyze data from flight tests and other sources to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop and maintain test procedures, standards, and processes
  • Assist the Government in performing all facets of developmental testing, from initial planning through execution, technical support, report writing and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of new systems and technologies into the aircraft
  • Maintain technical knowledge in the latest aerospace technologies and advancements
  • Ensure all test activities adhere to safety protocols and comply with regulatory requirements, such as those from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
  • Communicate and document test results and provide recommendations to management and stakeholders

Requirements:

Requires a Master's degree in Engineering or applicable discipline and 10+ years of experience or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/related Science plus 8 additional years of job-related experience.

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

Other Essential Job Functions:

  • Familiarity with Industry and Government standards for aerospace testing.
  • Advanced knowledge of data acquisition systems and instrumentation.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis to verify accuracy of test objectives met.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Previous experience with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems.
  • Experience with simulation and modeling software.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace systems, aircraft performance, and flight dynamics
  • Ability to work independently, and in a team environment; must be detail oriented and able to work within specified deadlines.
  • Familiarity with relevant military standards, specifications, and practices
